Is it appropriate to categorize the history of glass art by country? It is at least certain that the Netherlands have seen a number of outstandingly thriving periods of glass production, recently to include design and studio glass, which enjoy considerable acclaim in our neighbouring country.

The Hentrich Glass Museum is in the fortunate position to intensify its focus on this subject, owing to the circumstance that, since 1996, the museum’s work in this field has enjoyed the generous support from Tijmen Knecht and Helen Knecht-Drenth. The couple has donated its collection comprising over 900 glasses to the glass museum, as well as making considerable financial resources available for future purchases.

At regular intervals the glass museum renders an account of pertinent activities.
